guide to London highlights a homely new member's club and the latest New York-style eatery to make waves.
Every season we seem to highlight a new bar or restaurant from Russell Norman and Richard Beatty (Polpo, Polpetto, Spuntino), a duo who have struck on a winning formula of upscale hipster eateries with low-key atmospheres. New to their stable is
Mishkin’s, a slick take on a Jewish-American New York deli, which is just as stylish and popular as its stablemates.
Natty Formica tables and raw wood panelling are part of the interior, while comfort food favourites include Brick Lane salt beef bagels with lashings of Colman's mustard and pickles and meaty Reuben sandwiches.

Apartment 58 is London’s latest member’s club, providing a meeting and social space for young creatives, with plans to expand to two further clubs in west and east London respectively (and five further fashion capitals internationally). As the name suggests, the club’s concept is based around an apartment, with homely decor designed by art director Mia Wallenius and vintage mid-century furniture and bespoke wallpapers.
A board of advisors known as Landlords includes illustrator Will Broome, footwear designer Nicholas Kirkwood, artist Matthew Stone and model Edie Campbell. Tenants (elected industry influencers and creatives) invite friends to the club, and all are provided their own key to the venue. The focus is on technology: members can work off in-house iPads or Macs and information can be accessed from personalised iCloud accounts.
